Specialist cover for English-speaking expats
Our expat medical travel insurance is designed to protect your health while you’re away from home. You’ll be covered for unexpected medical emergencies, treatment abroad, and getting you home if needed.

Medical protection for pre-existing conditions
We cover most pre-existing medical conditions – even for older travellers or those with complex health needs – so you can explore with confidence. From asthma and diabetes to heart conditions and high blood pressure, we’re here to help you travel safely.
When you get a quote, you’ll complete a short medical questionnaire so we can tailor your cover to your needs.
- Medical and repatriation protection included as standard.
- 24/7 medical emergency helpline, wherever you are in the world.
- Fast access to approved care abroad, with direct billing to hospitals where possible.
Even if you have a GHIC or EHIC, these only cover limited state healthcare and won’t pay for private treatment or getting you home – that’s where we step in.
Flexible cover for single and multi-trip travel
There are 2 main types of travel insurance to choose from:
Single trip travel insurance
Covers one specific holiday – including cancellation, medical emergencies and lost belongings. You can travel for up to 104 days on a single trip.
Annual multi-trip travel insurance
Covers multiple trips over 12 months under one policy – with the same benefits each time you travel. Annual cover is available for up to 183 days abroad in total.

What’s not covered by expat medical travel insurance
While our medical travel insurance for expats offers extensive protection, there are some situations and costs we can’t cover. These include:
- any undeclared medical conditions – always tell us about your health when you take out your policy, so your policy is valid.
- travel against medical advice – if your doctor has said you shouldn’t travel.
- planned or expected medical treatment abroad – we only cover unexpected emergencies.
- claims related to alcohol or drug use – if these contribute to your illness, injury, or incident.
- trips started before you bought your policy – you must buy before leaving home.
- extreme sports or activities not listed in your policy unless you add the right cover.
- travel to destinations with an active government ‘advise against all travel’ warning – unless specifically covered in your policy wording.
